Fashion Designers

Fashion designers attempt to create and design clothes which are functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. They must consider who is likely to wear a garment and the situations in which it may be worn. They have a wide range and combinations of materials to work with and a wide range of colors, patterns and styles to choose from. Though most clothing worn for everyday wear fall within a narrow range of conventional styles, unusual garments are usually sought for special occasions, such as evening wear or party dresses.

Designer Fashion

Some clothes are made specifically for an individual, as in the case of haute couture.

Today, most clothing is designed for the mass market, especially casual and every-day wear. Designer fashion is as a result of the more affluent creating a market and many designs are copied later at a fraction of the price.  Women's Fashion and the Fashion Industry.  Designer Fashion is influenced by cultural and social latitudes, and has varied over time and place. Fashion designers work in a number of ways in designing clothing and accessories. Some fashion design is an individual or the result of a team. They attempt to satisfy consumer desire for aesthetically designed clothing; and, because of the time required to bring a garment onto the market, must at times anticipate changing consumer tastes.

Men's Fashion

Men's fashion is driven by function and style. Products and materials are of interest to men these days and the style and functionality of sports wear and leisure fashion. The fashion industry consists of four levels: production of the raw materials, principally fibres and textiles but also leather and fur; the production of fashion goods by designers, manufacturers, contractors, and others; retail sales; and various forms of advertising and promotion. These levels consist of many separate but interdependent sectors, all of which are devoted to the goal of satisfying consumer demand for apparel under conditions that enable participants in the industry to operate at a profit.

Development of the fashion Industry.

Although the fashion industry developed firstly in Europe and America, today it's an international and highly globalized industry, with clothing often designed in one country, manufactured in another, and sold world-wide. For example, an American fashion company might source fabric in China and have the clothes manufactured in Vietnam, finished in Italy, and shipped to a warehouse in the United States for distribution to retail outlets internationally. The fashion industry has long been one of the largest employers in the United States, and it remains so in the 21st century.

Women's Fashion

Women love their fashion! The fashion industry is a product of the modern age. Prior to the mid-19th century, most clothing was custom made. It was handmade for individuals, either as home production or on order from dressmakers and tailors. By the beginning of the 20th century-with the rise of new technologies such as the sewing machine, the rise of global capitalism and the development of the factory system of production, and the proliferation of retail outlets such as women's fashion departments and easy access department stores-clothing had increasingly come to be mass-produced in standard sizes and sold at fixed prices.
